April 1940 – KTB XXVII. AK (Maps)

Attached to the KTB of XXVII. AK is a set of situation maps for the corps[1]BArch. RH 24-27/33K and one of them is titled “Heeres-Art. Schußweiten Fall ‘Gelb’ April 1940 – 1:100.000”[2]engl.: Army Artillery Ranges Fall ‘Gelb’ April 1940.

The map itself shows a variety of Artillery units and their positions in April 1940 – of particular interest for me are those for AR 84.

1940-04 - Locations of Corps Artillery - Map 1

Positions of 5./AR 84 and 6./AR 84 near Laurensberg (April 1940)

North of the city of Aachen, around Laurensberg, the guns of 5./AR 84 and 6./AR 84 are shown in their respective positions (there are two locations marked for 5./AR 84 but only one for 6./AR 84)

1940-04 - Locations of Corps Artillery - Map 2

Positions of 4./AR 84 south-west of Aachen (April 1940)

The remaining part, 4./AR 84, is positioned south of Aachen, very close to the border in the forests near the Restaurant Entenpfuhl (also see here). Again, for them, two firing positions are marked on the map.

Note: the provided pieces of the map are reproductions from the original 1:100.000 maps, the base map here is are 1:25.000 Meßtischblätter (#5102 and #5202).
